Man dies after motorcycle strikes bus in Tampa, police say

The motorcycle was headed south on Dale Mabry, while the northbound bus was making a turn.

TAMPA — A man was killed when the motorcycle he was driving struck the rear of a Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority bus Friday night, Tampa police said.

The accident took place at S Dale Mabry Highway and W Euclid Avenue, police said.

The motorcycle had been traveling south on Dale Mabry at a high speed when it struck the rear corner of the northbound bus as it was turning west onto Euclid Avenue, according to police. There were no injuries to the bus passengers or the driver of the bus, they said.

The intersection was closed as officers continued to investigate. The name of the motorcyclist was not immediately released.
