MacDill Air Force Base was on lockdown for about an hour this morning as officials there investigated a report of an armed person on the base grounds.
The base went on lockdown about 7 a.m. after receiving a report of an armed and dangerous person near the Tanker Way gate area. Local authorities immediately began investigating.
At about 8 a.m., MacDill re-opened all gates except the Tanker Way gate, which is still closed.
There were no shots fired and no reports of any injuries, officials said.
This is a developing story that will be updated throughout the day.
