TAMPA — Two men’s exchange of gunfire left an 8-year-old with a wound to the finger on Saturday at about 11 a.m., according to the Tampa Police Department.
The shooting happened at N. 40th Street and E. Chelsea Street, far from the day’s annual Gasparilla parade.
Officers said two men shot at each other and then one drove off. Minutes later, officers found a man with gunshot wounds inside a crashed car. He was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, according to police.
The child also was taken to a hospital. It is not clear how severe his injuries were.
Officers are still searching for the second man who was shooting. The investigation is ongoing.
