The driver of an SUV and a motorcyclist both were killed in a crash near Gainesville Saturday morning.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers report that Lula Mae Melton, 55, of Gainesville, was driving a 1998 GMC when she made a left turn onto eastbound SW 24th Avenue from SW 70th Terrace at about 8:10 a.m. Meanwhile, a motorcyclist, Ozelle Anthony Resto, was heading west on SW 24th Avenue and collided with the driver’s side door of the SUV.

The motorcycle, a 2011 Yamaha, caught fire. Both Melton and Resto, who was wearing a helmet, died at the scene.

An investigation is continuing.
