A vehicle plunged into the Tampa Bypass Canal following a collision Saturday afternoon and troopers believe a person inside it is dead.

The Florida Highway Patrol responded to what it described as a two-vehicle crash shortly after 5 p.m. Saturday on the Adamo Drive bridge that spans the canal. Following the collision, troopers say one of the vehicles traveled into the canal and submerged.

Traffic was closed in both directions on Adamo Drive, also know as State Road 60, at the bridge. No further information was immediately available.
