PLANT CITY — A 21-year-old man was charged with leaving the scene of a fatal crash after running over a pedestrian who laid down in traffic, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Barry Anthony Rambert, 43, walked into the travel lanes of S.R. 60 and then laid down in the roadway near the James L. Redman Parkway, troopers said, at about 9:15 p.m. Saturday.

Two cars traveling westbound on S.R. 60 then ran over him, the Highway Patrol said. Rambert died at the scene.

But the first driver didn’t stop, troopers said. Chaunathon Khatsavone Phonsana, of Plant City, struck the pedestrian with his 2008 Infiniti G37 but kept going, according to the Highway Patrol. The second vehicle was a 2008 Honda Accord driven by Lori Leon Storch, 55, who faces no charges.

Troopers found the Infiniti driver on Sunday and arrested him on a charge of leaving the scene of a fatal crash. He was booked into the Hillsborough County jail and later freed that day after posting $15,000 bail.
