Driver towing camper and boat on I-4 loses control; boat tossed onto interstate

A man towing both a camper and a boat was given numerous citations Friday morning after he lost control and the boat was tossed onto Interstate 4, Florida Highway Patrol troopers report.

The crash occurred about 6:09 a.m. as the 30-year-old man was driving a pickup east on I-4 east of Thonotosassa Road. The driver “lost control of the pickup truck that was towing both a camper trailer, as well as a boat trailer simultaneously,” troopers wrote in a news release.

At that point, “the camper jackknifed initially, followed by the boat trailer, which then ejected the boat onto the interstate,” the news release states.

Neither the driver nor his passenger, a 63-year-old man, were injured. Troopers did not release the names of either.

The driver was cited for careless driving and oversize load violations.
