Police identify two killed when Corvette hits tree in Pinellas Park

PINELLAS PARK — Police have identified two men, one from Clearwater and one from Ruskin, as the victims in a single-car crash Saturday in Pinellas Park.

They are the driver, Eric Deshaies, 56, of Clearwater, and his passenger, Brian Tomasek, 42, of Ruskin.

The crash occurred about 9:30 p.m. in the 10100 block of MCI Drive near Gateway Center Parkway. Deshaies was driving a 1979 Corvette wheh he failed to negotiate a turn and left the roadway, striking a tree, Pinellas Park police said.

Investigators believe speed was a factor in the crash, according to a news release Monday.
