A 68-year-old Brooksville woman was killed Tuesday morning when she lost control of her car, struck a tree and overturned, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The crash happened about 6:20 a.m. as the woman was headed south on Andrew Lane approaching Farran Street. For unknown reasons, she lost control, left the roadway, entered the east shoulder, struck a tree and overturned.
The Highway Patrol did not identify the woman because of its interpretation of Marsy’s Law, an amendment to the state Constitution approved by voters in 2018 that was meant to protect crime victims but deprives the public of information that had long been available under Florida’s public records laws.
