PINELLAS PARK — A 65-year old Pinellas Park woman was struck by a car and killed while crossing 62nd Avenue North near 45th Street North about 11 p.m. Saturday, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

A St. Petersburg man, 54, was headed east on 62nd Avenue when he drove into the woman as she was crossing the street from north to south, the Highway Patrol said. She was not walking a crosswalk.

The Highway Patrol did not release the names of the woman or the man because of the agency’s interpretation of Marsy’s Law, a voter-approved amendment to the Florida Constitution that was meant to protect crime victims but deprives the public of information that had been long available under Florida’s Public Records laws.
