PASCO — A man is dead after his sedan collided with a truck on Chancey Road on Sunday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The man, who investigators have not yet identified, was driving northbound on Chancey Road, north of Correia Drive, at about 9:55 a.m. He failed to negotiate a curve in the road, crossed into the southbound lane and collided nearly head-on with a pick-up truck traveling southbound on Chancey Road, north of Correia Drive, troopers said.

After the impact, the sedan rotated and came to a rest partially in the outside northbound grass shoulder. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt, the agency said, and died of his injuries at the scene.

The truck rotated and overturned onto the outside southbound grass shoulder. The driver and passenger — a 61-year-old man and 85-year-old woman from Zephyrhills — suffered serious injuries.

Troopers did not release the name of the victims, citing their interpretation of Marsy’s Law, a constitutional amendment passed by voters in 2018 that is designed to protect crime victims, but that also deprives the public of information that had long been made available in Florida.
