SPRING HILL — A 44-year-old Spring Hill man was killed when he ran a red light on U.S. 19 and struck a car, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The collision occurred about 10:30 p.m. Sunday at U.S. 19 and Forest Oaks Boulevard.
The victim was headed north on U.S. 19 when he failed to stop for a stoplight and collided with the passenger side of a car headed east on Forest Oaks, the Highway Patrol said. The driver of the car received minor injuries.
The Highway Patrol did not release the victim’s name because of its interpretation of Marsy’s Law, a voter-approved amendment to the state Constitution that is meant to protect crime victims but that deprives the public of information long available in Florida under the state’s public records law.
