A 26-year-old Zephyrhills man died from injuries he received Sunday after being ejected from his motorcycle on Interstate 75 near the State Road 50 entrance ramp in Hernando County, troopers said in a news release Monday.

The rider quickly accelerated as he entered the highway from the southbound ramp and crossed three lanes, driving into the median and striking the guardrail, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

He was taken to a hospital with critical injuries and later died, the Highway Patrol said.

The Highway Patrol did not release the victim’s name because of its interpretation of Marsy’s Law, a voter-approved amendment to the state Constitution that is meant to protect crime victims but that deprives the public of information long available in Florida under the state’s public records law.
