HOLIDAY — A pickup truck driver struck and killed a 43-year-old New Port Richey man on Tuesday as he was walking across U.S. 19, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The collision happened about 6:20 p.m. at U.S. 19 and Moog Road.

The pickup driver, a 48-year-old New Port Richey man, was headed north on U.S. 19 when he struck the pedestrian, troopers said. The man was taken to a hospital, where he died.

The Highway Patrol did not release the names of either man because of its interpretation of Marsy’s Law, a voter-approved amendment to the state Constitution that is meant to protect crime victims but that deprives the public of information long available under Florida’s public records laws.
