RUSKIN — A 15-year-old Ruskin boy was seriously injured when he drove a motorcycle from a sidewalk across College Avenue and was struck by a car, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The driver and a passenger in the car, both males, fled the scene on foot and were being sought. Their identities were unknown.

The collision occurred at 7:55 p.m. Monday on College Avenue, also known as State Road 674, near Ninth Avenue Northeast, east of U.S. 41.

The boy was riding an unregistered motorcycle and had no license, the Highway Patrol said.

He was headed west on the north-side sidewalk along College Avenue when he pulled onto the roadway and into the path of a westbound Pontiac G6. The car struck the rear of the motorcycle, throwing the boy over the roof, windshield and roof.

Both vehicles came to rest in the westbound lanes of College Avenue and the occupants of the car fled.

Anyone with information was asked to contact the Highway Patrol at 813-558-1800 or Crime Stoppers at 800-873-TIPS.
