CLEARWATER — A 45-year-old Illinois man was struck and killed Friday night while crossing Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard, police say.

The crash was reported about 10:20 p.m. The incident took place on Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard, just west of S Lake Drive, near Crest Lake Park.

Michael Patte was walking south across Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard when Clearwater police said he was struck in the westbound lanes by a Ford F-250 pickup truck.

Patte, of Woodstock, Ill., was not using a crosswalk and was wearing dark clothing, police said. He died at the scene of the crash.

The 22-year-old Clearwater man driving the pickup remained at the crash scene and cooperated with investigators, according to police. No other information about the crash was released.

All lanes of Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard were closed Friday night and reopened early Saturday.
