Man struck, killed while walking across Interstate 4 in Plant City, troopers say

PLANT CITY — A man walking across Interstate 4 was struck and killed Friday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The incident took place about 9 p.m. in the westbound lanes of I-4 between the N Alexander Street and N Park Road exits.

The man was walking south across I-4′s westbound lanes, troopers say. At the same time, a 43-year-old Palm Harbor woman was driving a car in the inside west lane of the interstate.

The man walked into the inside lane and was struck by the car, according to the Highway Patrol.

He was pronounced dead at the crash scene. Troopers were trying to identify the man.

Two adults in the car were not injured, but a 13-year-old girl suffered minor injuries. They were all wearing seatbelts, troopers said.

No other information about the crash was released.
