BROOKSVILLE — A bar employee shot and killed a patron and wounded another early Saturday outside Opinions Lounge, deputies say.
Stanley Matiyosus, 42, was arrested on charges of second-degree murder with a firearm and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, according to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident took place about 1:50 a.m. outside the bar at 19201 Cortez Blvd.
The 42-year-old bar employee shot a 25-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman, deputies say. The man died after being taken to a hospital. The woman suffered a non-life threatening injury.
Deputies questioned Matiyosus, then arrested him. The Sheriff’s Office did not say what led to the shooting.
The agency also did not release the names of the man and woman who were shot, citing Marsy’s Law, a voter-approved amendment to the state Constitution aimed at protecting crime victims.
Matiyosus was booked into the Hernando County jail where he was being held without bail.
