The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a stabbing that took place at a Brooksville gas station Saturday.
Deputies were dispatched to the Speedway convenience store located at 26260 Cortez Blvd., around 5:30 p.m. Saturday. There they found a man in the parking lot who had been stabbed, according to a news release. The victim was treated by Hernando County Fire and Emergency Services personnel and transported to a nearby trauma center. The victim’s condition is unknown.
Deputies said two men got into a verbal fight inside the store, and it continued in the parking lot. Witnesses told deputies that once the men were outside of the store, one suspect was joined by two or three friends and a fight broke out. Then the suspect and his friends fled the scene, leaving the man with a stab wound in the parking lot, deputies said.
Deputies identified and interviewed three potential suspects but are asking the public for help. Several cell phone videos of the fight were submitted to deputies, but the source of those videos is unknown, the Sheriff’s Office said. Anyone who witnessed the altercation or may have taped the incident is encouraged to provide a statement to the Sheriff’s Office. Deputies and forensic specialists are continuing to investigate.
