PORT RICHEY — A motorcycle rider died after turning left into the path of a car on U.S. 19 Saturday night, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The crash occurred about 9 p.m. at U.S. 19 and Coventry Drive north of Port Richey.

A motorcycle ridden by a 63-year-old Port Richey was headed south on the highway when it turned left into the path of the northbound car driven by another Port Richey man, 61. They collided and the motorcycle rider was ejected.

The Highway Patrol did not release the men’s names because of its interpretation of Marsy’s Law, a voter-approved amendment to the state Constitution that was meant to protect crime victims but that deprives the public of information long available under Florida’s public records law.
