ST. PETERSBURG — An 83-year-old woman died Sunday in a crash that shut down the eastbound lanes of the Pinellas Bayway.

About 2:45 p.m., a Chrysler Town and Country minivan heading west on the Pinellas Bayway tried to turn south onto Leeland Street S, according to the St. Petersburg police.

The van turned into the path of a Toyota Tundra, and the cars collided in the intersection, police said.

An 83-year-old woman who police did not identify was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. She died several hours later. No one else was hurt.
