Man found dead at Thonotosassa intersection, deputies say

THONOTOSASSA — A man was found dead early Saturday on the side of the road near the rural intersection of Mango Road and Joe Ebert Road, according to the Hillsborough County’s Sheriff’s Office.

Now detectives are investigating his death.

Deputies were sent to the area about 6:30 a.m. after someone discovered the body of a man on the side of the roads there and called 911. Investigators are still trying to identify him.

“We are in the preliminary stages of the investigation, but this case does appear to be criminal in nature,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a statement. “As detectives work to identify the victim, we are urging anyone who has information to please contact us. The more details we have, the faster we can determine what happened.”

The Sheriff’s Office did not release any other details about what deputies found there, or why the case is believed to be “criminal in nature.”
