TAMPA — A 60-year-old Holiday man died Sunday morning after crashing a semi-trailer while driving on U.S. 301 at Martin Luther King Boulevard, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The collision occurred just after 8 a.m.

The driver was headed north on U.S. 301 when he lost control, crossed the median and southbound lanes, collided with a traffic sign and came to rest in a ditch next to the highway.

He was taken to a hospital, where he died.

The Highway Patrol did not release the man’s name because of its interpretation of Marsy’s Law, a voter-approved amendment to the state Constitution that was meant to protect crime victims but that deprives the public of information long available under Florida’s public records law.
