ZEPHYRHILLS — A 17-year-old boy riding his bicycle died after he was hit early Sunday by a woman driving under the influence, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Andrea Nadine Woods, 43, of Zephyrhills, was driving south on Allen Road south of Happy Days Drive when the crash occurred about 2:20 a.m. The boy, from Zephyrhills, was riding south in the northbound lane of Allen Road along with a 15-year-old bicyclist, troopers said.

Woods lost control of her Ford Mustang, crossed into the northbound lane and struck the boy, troopers said.

Woods was arrested on a charge of DUI manslaughter after troopers determined her blood alcohol limit was three times the legal limit for drivers.

Neither boy had a helmet or lights on their bikes, troopers said.
