RUSKIN — A 19-year-old Brooksville man died early Saturday after he lost of control of his SUV, which overturned and struck a tree on Interstate 75, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash took place about 6:30 a.m. on southbound I-75, south of Sun City Center Boulevard.

The driver lost control of the SUV for unknown reasons and entered the outside shoulder of I-75. The driver over-corrected, troopers said, ended up in the center median and then the SUV overturned and crashed into a tree.

The driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, was fatally injured and died at the scene.

The Highway Patrol did not release the man’s name due to its interpretation of Marsy’s Law, an amendment to Florida’s Constitution that was meant to protect crime victims but deprives the public of information that had long been available under the state’s public records laws.
