TAMPA — A 58-year-old Spring Hill woman died Wednesday after a sport utility vehicle struck her car on Interstate 4, sending her into a concrete barrier wall, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The crash occurred at 8:35 a.m., Wednesday just west of 50th Street.

The SUV driver, a 37-year-old St. Petersburg man, was headed east on I-4 when he hit the back of the woman’s car while changing lanes, the Highway Patrol said. The crash pushed the car into the barrier separating eastbound and westbound traffic and it bounced back onto the highway.

The woman died at a hospital from her injuries. The man received minor injuries.

The Highway Patrol did not release their names because of its interpretation of Marsy’s Law, a voter-approved amendment to the state Constitution that was meant to protect crime victims but that deprives the public of information long available under Florida’s public records law.
