HUDSON — A 27-year-old Avon Park woman died after she was struck by a pickup truck while running across U.S. 19 on Monday morning, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The incident occurred at 7:30 a.m. near Fivay Road in Hudson.
A Hudson man, 27, was driving north on U.S. 19 when he struck the woman as she was running from east to west, the Highway Patrol said. The woman died later at a hospital. The driver was not injured.
The Highway Patrol did not release their names because of its interpretation of Marsy’s Law, a voter-approved amendment to the state Constitution that was meant to protect crime victims but that deprives the public of information long available under Florida’s public records law.
