A 62-year-old Land O’ Lakes man died Monday from injuries he received when his pickup truck hit a power pole Friday on Land O’ Lakes Boulevard, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The man was driving south approaching Wisteria Loop around 11:48 p.m. Friday when a Tampa man, 53, headed north in a car, made a U-turn into the path of the pickup, troopers said. The pickup hit the back of the car, sending the car into the median and the pickup truck into a power pole on the outside shoulder.
The pickup driver was taken to a hospital. The driver of the car received minor injuries.
The Florida Highway Patrol did not release the drivers’ names because of its interpretation of Marsy’s Law, a voter-approved amendment to the state Constitution that was meant to protect crime victims but that deprives the public of information long available under Florida’s public records law.
