A child fell off a boat and suffered serious injuries Saturday near Anclote Key, according to Pasco Fire Rescue.
The child was at the front of the boat and fell off. As a result, the child suffered deep cuts to the head and leg. The child was listed as a trauma alert and flown to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa.
There have been no further updates on the child’s condition.
Pasco Fire Rescue did not release any other details, including the age of the child or how the incident unfolded. Pasco Fire Rescue reported the incident via a Twitter post at 2:12 p.m.
The islands of Anclote Key are three miles off the coast of the Pinellas-Pasco border and are home to Anclote Key Preserve State Park and Anclote National Wildlife Reserve.
