Two people are dead after a Tesla crashed into a Palm Harbor home Friday night, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

A Palm Harbor man, 43, was driving the car and speeding on Manning Road when he missed the stop sign on the T-intersection, law enforcement officials said. The Tesla, officials said, then hit a curb, lost control and struck the back of the house on 1498 Caird Way, killing a 69-year-old woman who lived there.

The Tesla was not reported to be on autopilot, officials said.

An Odessa man, 43, who was a passenger in the car, later died of injuries from the crash at a nearby hospital. The driver and two other passengers were seriously injured.

The Florida Highway Patrol did not release names of the injured because of its interpretation of Marsy’s Law, an amendment to the state Constitution.
