Spring Hill man critically injured after crashing into Pasco cemetery

A car driven by a 21-year-old collided with a moving van and hit a statue, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

A 21-year-old man from Spring Hill is seriously injured after colliding with a U-Haul moving van in Hudson and driving into a cemetery early Saturday morning, according to a statement from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The car driver going north on US-19 missed a stoplight at the intersection with Hudson Avenue, law enforcement said, and hit the U-Haul van on the right side. The moving van spun out to the edge of the intersection while the car continued into the Hudson Cemetery and hit a statue, officials reported. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the car driver was not wearing a seatbelt.

The statue fell on a gravesite and damaged it, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The 53-year-old man and woman in the moving van wore seatbelts, and law enforcement reported they had minor injuries from the crash.
