Pedestrian killed in Largo collision

A pedestrian died after being hit by a car early Sunday morning in Largo, according to a statement from the Largo Police Department.

Police said officers were dispatched to 66th Street N and 142nd Avenue N at approximately 4:10 a.m. to respond to the scene. The initial investigation showed that a male pedestrian was in a left turn lane when a Hyundai Sonata struck him, according to police.

Largo Fire Rescue attempted lifesaving measures, but the pedestrian died at the scene. Officers said alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash for the driver.
