HUDSON — A motorcycle rider died in a collision with another motorcycle Monday morning north of Hudson, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The victim, a 70-year-old New Port Richey man, was riding south on U.S. 19 near Meridian Boulevard about 7:45 a.m., nearly parallel to another rider in the same travel lane, the Highway Patrol said.

Both motorcycles began turning left and the other rider, a 60-year-old Hudson man, struck the left side of the first motorcycle, causing it to hit a curb and overturn, the Highway Patrol said.

The New Port Richey man was taken to a hospital where he later died of his injuries. The Hudson man was not injured. Neither man was wearing a helmet.

The Highway Patrol did not release their names.
