Police say Dominic Dangelo, 25, of Largo was driving a Ford Mustang southbound on 49th Street N just before 10 a.m. and tried to turn left onto 5th Avenue N. Police say he turned into the path of Ford Excursion being driven by Maxx Duren, 29, of St. Petersburg, causing the crash.
Edward Feist, 35, of Seminole was a passenger in the Mustang. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other people were taken to local hospitals with minor injuries.
Dangelo was arrested on a DUI charge, police say.
The intersection of 5th Avenue N and 49th Street N was closed for several hours while police investigated the scene. It reopened Sunday and the investigation is ongoing.
