Motorcyclist dies in Hernando County crash

A Spring Hill man was killed early Sunday morning in a traffic accident on Mariner Boulevard in Hernando County.

The man, 58, was traveling southbound on Mariner Boulevard near the intersection of Casa Grande Circle when he lost control of his motorcycle and entered the median, according to a crash report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The report states that the driver of the motorcycle collided with a storm water drain cover, overturned and then continued into the northbound lane, where he was hit by an oncoming sedan.

The crash took place around 12:30 a.m., and the motorcyclist died at the scene, according to the report. It is unknown what caused him to lose control of his vehicle. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to the report.
