Man hospitalized after water rescue on Clearwater Beach

The man sustained serious injuries after diving into the ocean from a dock located behind the Edge Hotel, located at 505 S. Gulfview Blvd., authorities said.

A man had to be rescued after he was injured when he dived into the water from a dock on Clearwater Beach Friday, authorities said.

The man was on a dock behind the Edge Hotel, located at 505 S. Gulfview Blvd., when he dove into the ocean just before 6 p.m., according to a news release from the city of Clearwater. He was unresponsive when he surfaced, the release said.

Clearwater Police and Clearwater Fire & Rescue responded to the scene.

Authorities say the man sustained potentially life-threatening injuries and he was taken to Morton Plant Hospital.
