Man, 29, killed in shooting on Nebraska Avenue in Tampa, police say

A 29-year-old man is dead after a shooting in the 6100 block of North Nebraska Avenue in Tampa on Thursday.

Several callers reported hearing gunshots in the area just after 3 p.m. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a man with gunshot wounds, according to the Tampa Police Department.

Attempts were made to save his life, but the man died, the Police Department said in an updated news release Thursday night.

Detectives do not believe the shooting was random, police said. The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information about what happened is asked to call the department at 813-231-6130. Anonymous tips can be sent by texting the word SAFETAMPA to 847411, followed by the information.
