A Spring Hill home was declared a total loss after its garage caught fire Saturday afternoon, according to the Hernando County Fire and Emergency Services.

The agency responded to a fire in the 11,000 block of Norvell Road around 4:05 p.m. Saturday. A woman called to report that her vehicle caught fire in the garage, according to an agency news release. She was the home’s only occupant and quickly left the building before calling authorities.

Fire and Emergency Services arrived at the scene within four minutes of the call, where they found heavy smoke and fire in the garage. It spread to the attic due to higher than average wind, the news release said.

The fire was extinguished within 45 minutes, the agency said. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
