Motorcycle slips in front of St. Petersburg church, killing 26-year-old rider

ST. PETERSBURG — A 26-year-old motorcyclist died Friday night after falling, the St. Petersburg Police Department said in a statement.

Soulaymen Mhidra was driving west at a “high rate of speed” on 38th Avenue North, police said. The motorcycle fell in front of Clearview Church on the intersection of 45th Street North and hit a wooden sign, police said.

Mhidra was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg and died shortly after. Police are still investigating and no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
