One man is dead and another is seriously injured after an all-terrain vehicle rolled over in Wesley Chapel Tuesday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
A 61-year-old Wesley Chapel man was driving a 62-year-old male passenger in the ATV, heading eastbound on a private dirt road west of Fog Hollow Drive, troopers said. Just before 4:30 p.m., the driver failed to safely negotiate a left curve on the twisting road and the vehicle overturned on its right side. Both of the men were ejected from the vehicle as it flipped, but the 62-year-old passenger became pinned underneath and suffered fatal injuries at the scene, troopers said.
A medical helicopter was sent to take the driver from the scene to an area trauma center for treatment, Pasco Fire Rescue said in a tweet at 5 p.m. on Tuesday.
The Highway Patrol did not release the name of either man involved in the crash, citing Marsy’s Law.
