One person was killed in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 75 near Bruce B. Downs Boulevard on Thursday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

All southbound lanes of I-75 were blocked until 1:40 p.m. as an investigation was conducted, troopers said.

The crash occurred just south of Bruce B. Downs Boulevard at 8:24 a.m. The driver of a sport utility vehicle lost control for an unknown reason and hit a flatbed tractor trailer. The two vehicles then hit a sedan and another sport utility vehicle, troopers said.

The two sport utility vehicles came to a stop at a median, but the tractor trailer and sedan hit two commercial vehicles that were transporting mobile homes that were stopped on the right shoulder and merge lane leading to Bruce B. Downs Boulevard.

One of the commercial vehicle drivers, a 26-year-old man from Shreve, Ohio, was standing outside of his vehicle when he was hit by one of the vehicles. The Highway Patrol did not specify which vehicle hit him.

The Ohio man died of his injuries, troopers said. Several others involved in the crash were taken to area hospitals injuries not considered life threatening, troopers said.
