A crash on U.S. 301 in Dade City injured seven people and closed roads Tuesday afternoon, according to Pasco Fire Rescue.

In a tweet at 4:15 p.m., the agency said that two of the people were sent to area hospitals as trauma alerts after a collision in the area of U.S. 301, also known as U.S. Highway 98, and Beth Street.

Two vehicles sustained heavy damage in the crash, Pasco Fire Rescue said in the tweet, which asked motorists to avoid the area.

At around 5:30 p.m., Pasco Fire Rescue spokesperson Corey Dierdorff told the Times the lane closures had ended.

He said the Florida Highway Patrol handled the crash scene. The Highway Patrol did not immediately respond to requests for additional information about the crash.
