A tanker truck overturned Sunday afternoon on a stretch of U.S. Highway 41 in Hillsborough County, spilling a gasoline along the highway and shoulder, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

No one was injured in the incident, but the intersection remains closed and is expected to remain so for an extended period.

The driver was traveling south on U.S. 41 and “failed to negotiate a left turn onto Madison Avenue” shortly after noon, causing them to lose control and the truck to overturn, according to a news release.

The driver was uninjured and no other vehicle was involved.

Drivers should avoid the area and seek alternate travel routes, troopers say.
