Zephyrhills woman dies after collision at Hillsborough intersection

A 42-year-old Zephyrhills woman has died after a fatal collision with another car at the intersection of US-301 and Ranch Road in Hillsborough early Sunday morning, troopers said.

Around 1:25 a.m. Sunday, an 18-year-old from Riverview was driving west on Ranch Road when she turned left at an intersection into the path of a pickup truck traveling north on US-301. The pickup truck collided with her car, overturned and hit a fence, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

As the pickup truck overturned, its passenger, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown from the vehicle and died. The teen’s vehicle rotated and came to a stop in the northbound lane of US-301.

The pickup truck driver also suffered serious injuries. The teen driver and her passenger, an 18-year-old male from Riverview, suffered minor injuries.
