Florida Highway Patrol car hits, kills Pasco bicyclist

A 40-year-old Lacoochee woman riding a bicycle died Saturday night after a Florida Highway Patrol car hit her in Pasco County, the Florida Highway Patrol said in a statement.

The patrol car was driving north on U.S. 301 past Desrosier Road when it hit the woman, who was riding near the highway’s divider at 9:49 p.m., the statement said. The road was not lit and the bicycle was not equipped with lights, the Highway Patrol said.

The woman died at the scene, the statement said.
