CLEARWATER — Both a man and a woman are dead after a murder-suicide shooting Friday night.

Francis Scoza, a 71-year-old Dunedin man, forced his way into the home of 61-year-old Audrey Petersen shortly after 8 p.m., according to Clearwater police. Officers said the two had recently ended a long-term relationship.

Scoza shot Petersen multiple times as she fled to a neighbor’s house for help. He then shot and killed himself in the same neighbor’s yard, police said.

Clearwater police responded to Petersen’s home in the 2300th block of Hillcreek Circle East, in the Countryside area, at around 8:15 p.m. after multiple people called about the incident. Both adults were found dead at the scene, according to police.

Authorities are continuing to investigate but no additional details were available as of Saturday afternoon.
