LACOOCHEE — Deputies are investigating a road-rage incident that led to a fight and an arrest Sunday afternoon.

The Pasco County Sheriff's Office says a 38-year-old man became angry after a 23-year-old woman pulled in front of his car while they were traveling north on U.S. 301.

Deputies say the woman, Natosha Donley, pulled off to the side of the road to let the man, Joseph Williams, pass her. Instead, he pulled behind her stopped vehicle, got out, and began yelling at Donley. She also exited her vehicle.

The verbal abuse turned physical, deputies say, when Williams hit Donley several times. When she tried to escape by rgetting back inside, the 5-foot-8 Williams pulled her back out, and said, "I'm gonna kill you b----," according to deputies.

Deputies say Donley told them she feared for her life.

Williams fled the scene, deputies said, but was found, arrested and charged with simple battery/assault. He was transported to the Land O' Lakes jail, deputies say, where he remained on $50,000 bail.

Two witnesses saw the encounter and took photos and videos. Their stories of the event's details matched those of the woman's, deputies said.

Deputies say Williams admitted to the incident but denied hitting the woman, saying he only pushed her to the ground.

Donley received minor injuries in the incident, deputies said.
