PORT RICHEY — A 31-year-old motorcyclist was killed Sunday after a drunk driver turned in front of him, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Dustin Shawn Hogan of New Port Richey died from his injuries at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point.

The other driver, 68-year-old Naserodin H. Shooshtari of Port Richey, was arrested and now faces charges of DUI manslaughter and violation of right-of-way.

Here's what troopers said happened Sunday:

About 5:15 p.m., Shooshtari was driving a Toyota Camry east on Embassy Boulevard in Port Richey. Hogan was driving a Honda motorcycle west on the same road.

Then, at the intersection of Embassy and Palm Avenue, Shooshtari turned left into Hogan's path, troopers said.

Hogan's motorcycle struck the passenger side of Shooshtari's car and he was thrown from the vehicle.

Hogan died just after 8 p.m. at the hospital.
