A Pasco County teacher was arrested Friday after deputies said a student caught him filming her as she undressed in a classroom closet.

Fivay High School teacher Thomas John Kovack, 38, was arrested on a charge of video voyeurism, according to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office.

A 17-year-old girl preparing for a class photo was changing her shirt in the closet when she noticed a phone taking video of her, deputies said. She found the video captured Kovack putting the phone in the closet, followed by her undressing. She deleted the video and reported the incident.

Kovack knew the student would be undressing in the closet, deputies said. He later admitted to putting the phone in the closet.

He was booked into the Land O' Lakes Detention Center, where deputies said he was released later Friday night on $5,000 bond.

This is the second Tampa Bay area teacher to be charged with filming students undressing in the last few months. This fall, a teacher at Bloomingdale High School in Hillsborough County was charged with more than 300 counts of video voyeurism after authorities said he filmed multiple students undressing.
