BROOKSVILLE — Governor Rick Scott has appointed George G. Angeliadis to the Fifth Judicial Circuit Judge seat for Group 22, which is being vacated by Curtis Neal.

Neal announced his retirement February 9, saying he planned to step down May 31. His term runs through 2020. He was first appointed to the judgeship in 2000 and has largely served in Hernando County ever since.

"It has been an honor serving the citizens of Florida as a circuit judge,'' he wrote.

Angeliadis, 49, is an attorney with the Hogan Law Firm and a resident of Spring Hill.

He previously worked as an assistant state attorney. He received his bachelor's degree in finance from the University of South Florida and his law degree from South Texas College of Law.

He moved to Hernando County in 1996. He was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1996, and has also been admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, according to his biography on the Hogan Law Firm website.
